Student Appearance

A student’s appearance, including dress and hygiene, must not disrupt the educational process or compromise standards of health and safety. The school does not prohibit hairstyles historically associated with race, ethnicity, or hair texture, including, but not limited to, protective hairstyles such as braids, locks, and twists. The school will not prohibit students from wearing or accessorizing the student's graduation attire with items associated with the student's cultural, ethnic, or religious identity or any other protected characteristic or category identified in the Illinois Human Rights Act. Students who disrupt the educational process or compromise standards of health and safety must modify their appearance.

Apariencia de los Estudiantes

La apariencia de un estudiante, incluida la vestimenta y la higiene, no debe interrumpir el proceso educativo ni comprometer los estándares de salud y seguridad. La escuela no prohíbe los peinados históricamente asociados con la raza, el origen étnico o la textura del cabello, incluidos, entre otros, peinados protectores como trenzas, mechones y giros. La escuela no prohibirá a los estudiantes usar o complementar el atuendo de graduación del estudiante con artículos asociados con la identidad cultural, étnica o religiosa del estudiante o cualquier otra característica o categoría protegida identificada en la Ley de Derechos Humanos de Illinois. Los estudiantes que interrumpan el proceso educativo o comprometan los estándares de salud y seguridad deben modificar su apariencia.
