How to Apply for a Director Identification Number Online

A Director Identification Number (Director ID) is a unique identifier that a director applies for once and keeps forever. It is designed to help prevent the use of false or fraudulent director identities and improve transparency and accountability of company directors in Australia.

Director Identification Number (DIN) is a unique 15-digit identifier used to verify the identity of a Director.

Each individual can only have one DIN, which remains with them for life, regardless of changes in company, name, or location.  From 1st November 2021, all Company Directors are legally required to obtain a DIN from the Australian Business Registry Services (ABRS). This DIN is permanently linked to the individual's personal tax profile.
