1Initiate immediate response
When a blood spill occurs during a game or training, it is important to initiate an immediate response to ensure the safety of all individuals involved.
Ensure that all players, coaches, and staff members are aware of the spill and keep a safe distance from the affected area.

2Put on personal protective equipment (PPE)
Before addressing the blood spill, put on personal protective equipment (PPE) to minimize the risk of exposure to bloodborne pathogens including wearing disposable gloves

3Contain and clean the blood spill
Properly contain and clean the blood spill using the following steps:
- Cover the spill with a disposable absorbent material, such as paper towels or absorbent powder
- Spray a disinfectant solution (1:10 dilution to water) onto the spill to disinfect the area
- Use disposable gloves to carefully wipe up the spill, starting from the edges towards the center
- Place all contaminated materials, including gloves and cleaning materials into a bin
