Domestic Fixturing Policy

    Scope

    Audience

This policy applies to staff involved in organising fixtures and participants within the Domestic Competition at SPBA.

    Fixture Release Times

Fixture release times should be published via the website in a timely manner accordance with the timeline below:

    • Grading Phase 1 (Rounds 1-3) - fixtures should be released at least three days prior to round one for the first three rounds.
    • Grading Phase 2 (Rounds 4-5) - fixtures should be released at least three days prior to round four for the next two round. This is to allow SPBA to complete a grading review with clubs.
    • Season - fixtures should be released at least four days prior to round six for the remainder of the season.
    • Finals - fixtures for finals should be published within one business day of the previous round being played

If there are any changes to the above mentioned timelines, club contacts and senior team contacts will receive communicated notifying of the reason and expected release time.

Time Brackets for Age Groups (Saturday Competitions)

Where possible, the SPBA will endeavour to maintain fixtures within a 2.5 hour time bracket for each division (U8, U10, U12).
For U14 divisions, SPBA will endeavour to fixture within a 5 hour time bracket to avoid the same teams playing late games every week. However, where possible U14 games will have a smaller time bracket.

Exceptions to these time brackets may be made on a case-by-case basis, taking into account:

    • U8 & U10 competitions play on lowered rings - three courts do not have rings that can be lowered

    • Achieving the SPBA's strategic objectives, specifically - to grow participation

    • Venue availability.

    General

SPBA reserves the right to review and modify the policies outlined in this document as necessary. Any changes will be communicated to the team in a timely manner.
