Senior Sharks Long Distance Game Policy
Scope
This policy applies to all members of teams affiliated with Southern Peninsula Basketball Association (SPBA) who are required to undertake travel for games two or more hours away from Dromana, Victoria. The policy aims to ensure that all travel and accommodation arrangements are made in a effective and efficient manner, while also ensuring the comfort and safety of team members.
Audience
This policy applies to all members of teams affiliated with SPBA, including players, coaches, trainers, and any other staff members involved in the team's activities.
Junior Sharks & Senior Sharks CBL Teams
Travel
For games two or more hours in one way travel time, SPBA encourages more than one driver per vehicle or adequate rests for the driver to ensure safety. All costs related to travel is the responsibilities of individuals.
Accommodation
It is recommended where travelling for four or more hours one way that accomodation is utilised and the return trip if not made on the same day. Accomodation cost is responsibility of the individual. Where the return trip is made on the same day, sufficient drivers and rest stops are encouraged to ensure safety.
Senior Sharks - Big V Senior & Youth League Teams
Travel
All travel arrangements for teams which are travelling two or more hours will travel to and from the game in a mini-bus provided by the SPBA. The cost of hire, fuel and tolls will be covered by the SPBA.
If a team member wishes to use their own transport for games two of more hours away, they should request an exemption through the SPBA Head of Basketball. This includes precautions they are taking to ensure they are travelling in a safe manner over a long distance.Accommodation
Accomodation arrangements for teams which are travelling four hours or more will be covered by the SPBA for a maximum of 12 people.
Hotel arrangements should aim to provide comfortable and safe accommodations for team members, taking into consideration factors such as proximity to the game venue, amenities, and any specific requirements or preferences specified by team members.
If any other people are attending and require accommodation, they are required to organise their own arrangements.
General
Arrangements are booked by the SPBA at the start of the season for the provision of a maximum of 12 people. Details will be provided to team managers at the start of the season.
If the team requests any variation to the booking which increases the price, the difference must be covered by the team.Expenses and Reimbursement
All expenses related to travel and accommodation for Senior Sharks teams must be within budget. Any expenses, or predicted expenses beyond budget must be approved by the General Manager.
The team manager must provide all relevant receipts and documentation for expenses incurred for fuel for reimbursement.Any unauthorized or excessive expenses incurred by team members will not be reimbursed by the team or SPBA.
