SPBA Outbound Tour Policy
SPBA offers its members and local athletes the opportunity to be a part of its outbound tours each year, which are predominantly for tours to the USA.
SPBA has the right to accept, reject, and remove athletes from a tour at any time. This document outlines the process and timelines for the organization and preparation of a tour. These guidelines and policies are in place to ensure all families are well aware of the expectations before signing up for a SPBA outbound tour.
Eligibility
Any SPBA player (domestic or VJBL) is eligible for a SPBA outbound tour. Local athletes are eligible on an invitation basis from the SPBA General Manager. The SPBA Head of Basketball will finalize each touring team roster. Family members may elect to attend the tour as supporters.
Coaching Staff and Tour Manager
The General Manager will appoint the Coaching Staff, Team Managers, and Tour Manager.
Coaching Staff Subsidies
There will be subsidised positions for Coaching Staff on the tour available at the discretion of the SPBA General Manager. The Tour Manager will be 100% subsidised as part of the tour costs.
Tour Itinerary
While the tour itinerary will be discussed with the participating families, the General Manager and Tour Manager will have the final say on the itinerary.
Fundraising
Each touring team will have the opportunity to fundraise in the months leading up to their tour. The purpose of fundraising is to raise money to go towards items such as fuel money, sightseeing activities, and spending money. However, families need to carefully consider if they can afford to go on the tour without having to fundraise.
Each team is responsible for organising their own fundraising and all fundraising ideas will have to be approved by the SPBA. All funds raised will be kept in a SPBA fundraising bank account and then distributed to the athletes two weeks before the tour leaves. Funds will only be divided and distributed to the families that contributed to the fundraising events, which will be monitored and recorded by the Tour Manager.
On Tour
The purpose of the tour is to expose SPBA athletes to the international basketball and sightseeing.
The itinerary is set for the tour and all tour members are expected to attend the scheduled activities. Tour members will have free time periods throughout the tour.
The Tour Manager has the final say with all tour-related matters while on tour.
