Create new tag in ConvertKit

Tags are an important component of ConvertKit for a couple of reasons:

    • Tags allow you to "segment" your master list of contacts/email records.
    • Tags allow you to track when people click on links, and which links they clicked on
    • Tags allow you to track other kinds of historical action, such as forms that are filled out or email sequences entered.
The segmenting function allows you to send emails to only the people who have a certain tag. Or the segmenting can be more complex and based on "has this tag, but not that tag."

    Bottom line?

Tag-based segementing is powerful and something you'll want to take advantage of. And so let's take a look at the steps for creating a new tag in ConvertKit.
    1. 1

      Login to ConvertKit

    2. 2

      Click on the Grow menu...

      1. Click on the Grow menu, then
      2. Click on "Subscribers"
    3. 3

Scroll down and click "Create a Tag"

Scroll down until you see the verbiage on the right hand side that says "Create a Tag"
      1. Click on the "+ Create a Tag" link
    4. 4

      Name the Tag

When the pop up box appears, type in the name of the tag you want to create. In this example, I have typed in "Imported" and recommend you create this tag first.
    5. 5

      Save the Tag

Click on the red "Save" button to save the tag with the name you've created.
    6. 6

Verify the tag has been saved in your list

You should now see the tag you created amongst the list of other tags (if you've previously created any other tags).
