Tags are an important component of ConvertKit for a couple of reasons:
- Tags allow you to "segment" your master list of contacts/email records.
- Tags allow you to track when people click on links, and which links they clicked on
- Tags allow you to track other kinds of historical action, such as forms that are filled out or email sequences entered.
The
segmenting function allows you to send emails to only the people who have a certain tag. Or the segmenting can be more complex and based on "has this tag, but not that tag."
Bottom line?
Tag-based segementing is powerful and something you'll want to take advantage of. And so let's take a look at the steps for creating a new tag in ConvertKit.
