How to Read Your Paystub

    Understanding the Basic Information

    Your paystub or Earnings Statement contains important information about your earnings and deductions. To start, the top section shows the pay period dates for which the statement applies, the actual pay date, the company location for which you work, and your personal information.

    Employee Earnings

    Employee Earnings includes your pay rate, how many hours you've worked, your commission, paycheck tips, and product commission. All of this added together equals your gross earnings.
    • Hourly wage plus commission equals true barber commission

    Employee Taxes Withheld /Employer Taxes

    Shows taxes withdrawn from your check (employee taxes withheld) and also what the company is responsible for (employer taxes).

    Employee Deductions

    Any deductions such as Aflac, tuition repayment, child support payments, etc. will be listed under this section.

    Employer Contributions

    This is used only for previous issued IRA plans.

    Summary

    Everything is broken down into categories, both current and year to date. Monthly healthcare reimbursements will be shown in this section along with any other reimbursements you might be due.
