Shop and Staff Profitability

Shop and Staff

Finding and interviewing new candidates

A central part of a shop's profitability is it's staff. When needed, Managers are expected to identify the need and coordinate with the corporate team to possibly create a job posting and start to interview potential candidates. Interview guidelines and other helpful information is available on the CHOP Admin Portal.

Identifying the need to hire is a combination of multiple indicators:

Squire productivity - If your Squire productivity percentage is over 80%, it may be time to hire additional staff.
Completely full days- If you are experiencing days where your books are completely full, you may need to hire additional staff for that day or adjust existing staff.

Optimization of daily book

The profitability of both stylists and the shop depend on client appointments. Managers should review the shop's books daily to look for opportunities to adjust appointment start times to create as many appointments as possible. Often, adjusting an appointment time by 15 minutes earlier or later can create a 30 minute spot for another client.

Service durations

The services CHOP offers are the result of many years of experience and optimization. It is critical for all staff members to stay within the service durations defined in each service. If a stylist is having trouble with service times, the manager should coach them towards a plan that will allow them to meet those expectations, including one on one training at the Team Eagle Academy.

Adjusting staff schedule to respond to customer need

Managers are expected to observe and be mindful of when their shop is the busiest and ensure enough staff is on the floor to respond to that need. Approach staff about minor changes to their schedule that may benefit their earning potential, as well as ensure the shop is as profitable as possible.
