Shop Technology

CHOP's use of technology is a core part of our brand, setting us apart from competitors, and relied upon daily by many of our primary functions. The items below are key elements of the technology used in each shop. The manager is expected to protect and maintain the technology items listed below.

Squire PoS
The Squire point of sale system (PoS) is the brains of the shop. It contains all information about our clients, barbers, appointments, and reporting data. Squire is a complex system, and it's important for all managers to be proficient in many of its features. Squire offers support articles online and support via text at 833-852-0093. For more detailed "How-To" articles on specific Squire features relevant to manager tasks, see our How-To section.

Front desk computer and tablets
If Squire is the brains of the shop, the front desk computer and tablets are the technical heart. It's here that we manage incoming appointments, charge outgoing appointments, and set up future appointments. These devices should only be used to run the Squire PoS via an app or browser. No other use of these devices is permitted and can be grounds for termination. Shut down the front desk computer and tablet each night. Managers are expected to routinely check these devices for updates and complete the update process whenever an update is available. The Squire app on iOS tablets may need to be deleted and reinstalled after an update.

Front desk monitor, keyboard and mouse
The front desk computer requires a monitor, keyboard and mouse. These items can be found in the "Amazon Outfitting - required" shared list in your Amazon Business dashboard. To ensure the proper function of these devices, and prevent illness clean the keyboard and mouse with antibacterial wipes, and clean the monitor screen with a microfiber cloth each night as a part of closing duties.

Front desk WisePoSe(s)
The WisePoSe card reader is a vital tool used to charge clients for services. It's essentially a small Android tablet. It's configured remotely with Squire support and should not require any regular updates. To ensure the proper function of this device, and prevent illness clean with antibacterial wipes, and wipe the screen with a microfiber cloth each night as a part of closing duties.

Front desk televisions
CHOP uses televisions to project promo items and a service menu. Your store will have a portrait orientated 43 inch TV for rotating media, and some stores have a landscape oriented 55 inch TV for the service menu. Both televisions use the Mango Signs app to display their content. The CHOP outfitting team completes the initial setup. The televisions should not display any content not delivered via the Mango Signs app. No other use of these devices, unless specifically authorized by CHOP corp, is permitted and can be grounds for termination. Restarting the Mango Signs app typically resolves any display issues. If you TV is malfunctioning, please see our How to Troubleshoot Your TVs how to.

Camera system
CHOP uses the Heimvision camera system in shops to provide video recording for the security of our staff and in case of break in or theft. The CHOP outfitting team completes the initial setup, which consists of four camera units, a recording device, a monitor and mouse. The monitor is typically located where staff can view the screen during their breaks. Staff should not move or obstruct any camera unit, or use the monitor for any other purpose. Managers can access the real-time or recorded history via the Heimvision mobile app.

Shop Cellphone
The shop cellphone's primary purpose is to receive calls into the shop. CHOP has a virtual assistant service that answers the phones during peak hours. However, staff are expected to answer the phone if they are not actively performing a service. When the phone rings, choose the answer icon, then then number "1" to accept the call forwarding from the Grasshopper service. The cellphone may also be used to text and communicate with customers who you need to reach from the Shop, to control your rockbot settings using the Rockbot App and to take higher quality pictures you wish to share with CHOP's marketing team.  The ringer on the phone must be at a high enough tone to be heard throughout the shop.  It will be the manager's responsibility to ensure the shop phone is being answered in a timely manner and rotated throughout the store so that no one staff member is charged with continually answering the phone.

Rockbot streaming player & Amp
The Rockbot music service and the music it provides is a key part of the CHOP brand. Music must be playing at all times during all business hours at an acceptable sound level that is predetermined by CHOP corp. At no time should music from any other device be playing in the shop unless specifically authorized by the CHOP corp team. Only non-explicit, PG-13, high tempo music should be played in the shop.

Music streams to the shop through a Internet connected device such as computer, tablet, or cellphone, or the Rockbot media streamer device. The music system consists of the streaming device, an amplifier, and speakers. The streaming device and the amp both have volume dials that should be set to collectively equal the desired volume in the shop. After the initial setup, the amplifier volume, bass, and treble dials should not be adjusted. Volume is managed only through Internet connected streaming device, such as computer, tablet, or cellphone, or through the Rockbot Manager app installed on the Internet connected steaming device.

Internet router and wifi
Each shop requires a reliable connection to the Internet, which is required for the Squire PoS and music systems. The local Internet provider for your area provides a router that connects your shop to the Internet. This router may or may not also provide a wi-fi network for the shop devices. If it does not, an additional wi-fi router is required. Staff should not make any changes to these Internet devices. A restart of the Internet router often corrects any connectivity issues.

The wi-fi networks available in the shop are chopadmin, (password set to Ch0procks + the street number + ! ) for internal shop use, and chopguest, (password choprocks) for customer use.

In the event your wi-fi is goes out or is not connectable, please use the hotspot on your cell phone as an alternative connectivity method.  To discover how to do this, please visit How To Handle Cable Outage in our how to section.
