Standard Recruiting

Standard recruiting strategies include the use of job boards such as Indeed, requesting posts for open positions on our social media platforms, asking your current staff for referrals, and simply putting a "Now Hiring" vinyl on the shop window. These efforts are typically adequate to find staff. However, if you're still unable to find candidates using these standard recruiting strategies, you may need to add some "thinking outside the box" recruiting. 

Outside the Box Recruiting

For "outside the box" recruiting, you need to think about where your potential candidates may be and develop opportunities to physically bring them to you, or get you to them. This could include visiting local cosmo or barber schools, going to stylist events, or attending local job fairs. In some cases, you may even visit competitors and leave contact information for referrals. See Out of the Box Recruiting steps.                                           

The goal is to find and get the CHOP brand name into your local stylist network. 


Recruiting Talking Points

It's pretty easy to sell the benefits of working at CHOP because CHOP Rocks! Below are some talking points to help you speak to potential candidates: 

  • CHOP's HR program leads the industry in commission, benefits, and education opportunities. Stylists will earn more while working with a great team in a fun environment. 
  • CHOP's Legends program provides clear, obtainable career goals that stylists can work towards and reap rewards. Legends receive additional marketing, increased commission, additional perks in scheduling and services, even restricted stock units (RSUs) in CHOP! 
  • CHOP was founded by a barber that still cuts hair today. Our culture is built around providing a safe, fun, rewarding environment for stylists to do their best work and build a successful career. 
  • CHOP has successful shops in multiple states, and this is only the beginning! Working with CHOP means that established stylists have opportunities to visit, train, and even work as a guest stylist at any CHOP location.
  • Go over CHOP Core Values:

Along with these talking points, have available copies of the CHOP core values and the Services and Product Commission tier charts as a visual aids when discussing culture and commission.
