3.3.4 Routine Shop Maintenance

Routine shop maintenance is necessary to keep our shops able to service our customers and provide a safe and sanitary working space for our team. The maintenance tasks below are grouped by area of maintenance and also by frequency of maintenance. Compliance with these maintenance tasks is verified by remote and in person inspections. 


Shop Maintenance by Type


Air Compressor

  • Weekly: Drain the water in the tank, check for weird noise and vibration, and inspect for air leaks, If applicable, check the pump oil level, look for oil leaks, and Inspect belts.
  • Weekly: Check air filters, and clean or replace them.

  • Monthly: Check safety relief valve, Check belts if necessary, Check and tighten all bolts, and Check connections for leaks.

  • Annually: (or every 200 hours of use) Service pump or engine. 

Pest Control

  • Quarterly: Hire a pest control service to inspect and spray for insects and rodents.

HVAC

  • Bi-Annually:  Inspection of the HVAC system fluids and filters.

Lighting

  • Daily: Ensure every lamp has the same daylight/cool color temperature.
  • Monthly: Check the exterior lights to ensure there are no torn cables and make sure all screws and hardware are in place and working properly.

  • Monthly: Inspect interior lighting fixtures for any damage.

  • Weekly: Clean and dust all lighting fixtures.

  • Quarterly: check gaskets for a watertight seal, replace as needed.


Shop Technology

  • Daily: Restart front desk computer running Squire.

  • Daily: Restart computer or tablet streaming Rockbot.

  • Daily: Restart iPad(s).

  • Daily: Ensure security cameras are functioning as intended.

  • Daily: Ensure open/close sign is functioning as intended.

  • Weekly: Check desktop computer, tablets, and iPhone for updates.

  • Weekly: Check TV Firestick for updates.

Shop Floor

  • Daily: Clean Lather Machines.
  • Daily: Empty towel warmer tray.

  • Daily: Empty trash and laundry bins.

  • Daily: Ensure all water dispensers are clean.

  • Daily: Clean shampoo sinks and chairs.

  • Daily: Empty dryer lint tray.

  • Weekly: Check for water leaks or damage 

  • Weekly: Clean inside of towel warmer.

  • Monthly: Clean refrigerators and check for proper cooling.

  • Quarterly: Check Barber Chairs for proper lubrication and hydraulic performance. 

  • Quarterly: Clean walls or touch up paint.

  • Annually: Check licensure and tax certificate are up to date & displayed

  • Annually: Check workers comp info is up to date

  • Annually: Check all info in the break room is up to date 

Exterior

  • As Needed: Report any leaks or exterior damage to property management.

  • Daily: Ensure safe entry and exit for customers.

Plumbing:

  • Monthly: Inspect pipes for leaks

Fire Safety 

  • Daily: Keep circuit boxes, grilles, and electrical storage free of dust, dirt, and debris.

  • Monthly: Check outlets, breaker boxes, wires, batteries, switches, and other electrical components to ensure there’s no cracking or corrosion. 

  • Bi-Annually: Check smoke detectors, and emergency lights are in working order

  • Bi-Annually: Check Fire Extinguisher is in date


Shop Maintenance by Frequency


Daily

  • Restart front desk computer running Squire.

  • Restart computer or tablet streaming Rockbot.

  • Restart iPad(s).

  • Clean the bathroom 

  • Clean shampoo sinks and chairs.

  • Clean floors to remove stubborn hair in corners and on chairs and under stations

  • Clean shop device screens

  • Clean Lather Machines.
  • Remove any clutter or debris from the countertops and reception areas

  • Empty towel warmer tray.

  • Empty trash and laundry bins.

  • Empty dryer lint tray.

  • Ensure all water dispensers are clean.

  • Ensure every lamp has the same daylight/cool color temperature

  • Ensure security cameras are functioning as intended.

  • Ensure open/close sign is functioning as intended.

  • Ensure safe entry and exit for customers.

Weekly

  • Clean all surfaces.

  • Clean behind all toolboxes and eye vacs..

  • Clean the outside of all trashcans

  • Clean inside of towel warmer.

  • Clean floors by wet mopping.

  • Dust the retail shelves and all product.

  • Drain the water in the air compressor tank, check for weird noise and vibration, and inspect for air leaks, If applicable, check the pump oil level, look for oil leaks, and Inspect belts.

  • Check for water leaks or damage.

  • Check desktop computer, tablets, and iPhone for updates.

  • Check TV Firestick for updates.

Monthly

  • Change HVAC handler filter.

  • Clean Washing Machine & Dryer.

  • Clean Outside Windows.

  • Clean Vent in Bathroom.

  • Clean inside of trash bins.

  • Inspect safety relief valve, Check belts if necessary, Check and tighten all bolts, and Check connections for leaks.

  • Inspect interior lighting fixtures for any damage.
  • Inspect pipes for leaks.

Quarterly

  • Pest control Maintenance.

  • Inspect barber chairs are lubricated and hydraulic fluid levels are correct.

  • Check for water and air leaks, including dryer exhaust & refrigerators.

  • Clean space outside of the shop.

  • Check sharps containers & dispose of full ones.

  • Dust decor, merchandise & everything out of typical dusting reach.

Bi-annual

  • HVAC Routine Preventative Maintenance 

  • Check smoke detectors, and emergency lights are in working order

  • Check Fire Extinguisher is in date

Annually

  • Check licensure and tax certificate are up to date & displayed 

  • Check workers comp info is up to date 

  • Air Compressor: Service pump or engine

  • Check all info in the break room is up to date
