3.1.1.2 Shop Closing Procedure

    Lock the doors

    At the end of business hours, lock all doors including the main entrance and any back doors. This is important to secure the store and its contents, and protect the staff.

    Secure all cash

    All cash should be secured in the register or in a safe. This will help to protect the store's money from theft.
  3. 3

    Take sidewalk sign inside (if applicable)

    If your shop has a sidewalk sign, bring it inside the shop and place it just inside the entrance. Turn the sign so current promotion signage is visible to anyone walking by the shop outside after business hours.

    Empty all towel bins and start laundry

    Ensure all towel bins are emptied and start laundry. If laundry is in the washer, move to dryer and start cycle. If laundry is in the dryer and dry, move to basket for folding in the morning.

    Turn off towel warmers

    Ensure all towel warmers are off and empty the condensation trays.

    Turn off wax warmer, replace wax collar as needed and put away tools

    If your shop has a wax warmer, turn it off and ensure the wax station is clean and clear of hair. Put waxing tools in a closed container or cabinet.

    Blow/sweep/vacuum out all hair from all stations, nooks, corners

    There should be NO piles of hair at any station or on the shop floor. Use compressors to blow hair out of hard to reach areas, sweep or vacuum all hair from stations, floor, and all corners of the shop. 

    The opening shift should NOT have to sweep hair.

    Move mats to sweep out excess hair

    Move mats and chairs to blow out and sweep excess hair. This may not need to be done each night, but is required to be done at least once monthly

    Wet mop the front of shop as needed

    If excess dirt, footprints, and/or dust is visible at the front entrance of the shop, wet mop the shop entrance. Move door mat and customer benches and mop in those areas. 

    Sweep excess hair before mopping in any area.

    Clean mirrors and chair bases with microfiber cloths

    Use glass cleaner and microfiber cloths only to spray and wipe down mirrors and chromed chairs and chair bases. Ensure all are clean with no residue product or smudges.

    Clean and organize back bar area and sinks

    Ensure any shampoo and conditioner or other product are organized in a consistent display. Clean shampoo bowls with an all purpose cleaner and cloth. No water stains or product residue should be visible.

    Take out all trash and replace trash bags

    Take out all trash. Combine trash into one bag if a receptacle isn't full. Ensure emptied trash cans have a new bag. 

    All trash cans must have a top that is on the can and covering the contents.

    Clean bathroom floor, sink, mirror, toilet

    • Use glass cleaner and microfiber towel to clean bathroom mirror 
    • Sweep bathroom floor and wet mop if necessary
    • Use all purpose cleaner and damp cloth on sink to remove any soap or stains
    • Use toilet cleaner and brush to clean toilet bowl
    • Use disinfecting wipe to clean toilet seat and rim
    • Refill paper towels and toilet paper

    Use disinfectant wipes on wi-fi area, toys, gum ball machine, and door handle

    Put headrests back on all chairs, turn foot rest so colored padding faces front, turn all chairs to face the front entrance.

    The shop should look inviting at all times. Our chairs are a big part of the vintage feel of CHOP.

    Clock out, then turn off laptop/computer, iPad(s), and card reader(s)

    Turn off all lights except pendant lights and #BEANORIGINAL sign

    Leave together and lock the door behind you
