Interpreter Request SOP

    • Follow this process when schools need an interpreter for a meeting with a parent/guardian whose native language is something other than English. If a parent requests an interpreter we should provide them with one.

      Requesting an Interpreter

      The person requesting an interpreter will  fill out the Interpreter Request Form minimum 14 days prior to when they need an interpreter for a meeting. The person requesting the interpreter will send a calendar invite to Rene Mandujano. You will (Note: In person interpreters that we contract through are only available from 8:00am to 4:00pm.)

      Schedule Availability/Invites

      The bilingual director will notify the requester and forward the calendar invite to the interpreter that will be attending the meeting.

      If No Interpreter is Available

      If no interpreter is available for the meeting, the person requesting the meeting will need to reschedule the meeting or use the Language Line for interpreting services.

      Check In

      The interpreter will need to check in at the front office if they are doing an in-person meeting. If they are doing a virtual meeting the Interpreter will need to connect via an electronic device (Google Meet).  A phone format (phone conference) could be utilized also based upon a parent request.
