RUN- If it’s safe to do so or you have no other option, flee the scene. Leave behind personal belongings and encourage others in danger to also run.
- Before running, take into account the location of the assailant, the age of your students, and your building and its surroundings.
- Some buildings are surrounded by wide open spaces. Be aware of your surroundings and determine if running is a safe option.
- If you run into the police, stop running, show your hands and follow directions.

- If you can find a safe place to hide and secure, do so.
- Barricade the door if possible.
- If you can’t find a safe place to hide and secure in the building, leave the building and run until you find a safe place.
FIGHT- As an absolute last resort, fight back using nearby objects as weapons.
- Work together and use the element of surprise to your advantage.
- Swarm the assailant in a group.
- Focus on controlling arms and legs.
