15.02 Vacation Time Away from Work

Vacation is provided to both full and part-time employees to provide flexible paid time off from work that can be used for such needs as vacation, doctor appointments, school, volunteerism, and other activities of the employee's choice.
 
Full-time and Regular Part-Time employees will be eligible to receive vacation each calendar year. Vacation time is calculated as of January 1st to be used during the calendar year.
 
For maximum effect, all employees are strongly encouraged to take at least one two-week break in continuity.
  1. Directors will be eligible for up to five weeks each year.
  2. All other staff will be eligible for up to four weeks each year, and up to five weeks each year after five years of service.
  3. Full and Regular Part-Time Employees will be eligible for vacation in the current calendar year based upon date of hire.
  4. During the first calendar year of employment employees may take up to one week per quarter of vacation.
  5. Full-time, Director-level employees who are not eligible for a Sabbatical may receive an additional two weeks of vacation every 7 years to be used during that year only.   
  6. Requests for vacation time off must be made in writing and approved by your supervisor. Vacation requests will be approved on a first come, first served basis, and only if the time off will not interfere with the normal business operations of CHPC.
  7. A week of vacation is equal in hours to the number of hours you are scheduled in a week.
  8. Vacations may not be carried over to the next calendar year. Rare exceptions may be made due to extenuating circumstances. All requests for carry over vacation must be in writing and must be submitted to Pastor or Supervisor by December 31. No vacation day carry over may extend beyond March 1 of the following year.
  9. Employees receive no payment for unused vacation time at end of calendar year or at termination of employment.
