Sanctuary A/V System Notes

  1. 1

    Screen Announcements to Atrium

    From the Apple Mini computer
    Open Proclaim
    Select pre-service loop in Proclaim
Check the date on the pre-service loop selection for the upcoming week.
Set both Marshall boxes to output number "3" by pressing the round button. Tis is so it will show on all screens.
If the loop is not the upcoming week, select "File" and then "Open" and you’ll see the list of available dates to choose from.

Click on air in proclaim, which is in the upper right hand corner of the tool bar this sends a signal out to the network.

  2. 2

    Restart Video System

    Turn off

    Startup Sequence is important:
    First
    Next the #1 Display
(This is important to setup the EDID)
[EDID is the process of linking HDMI devices. First the splitter sends a 5v signal to the device and next the device responds with its data that sets up the splitter. Things like resolution (1080p) or ]
Other displays can be started after the #1 Display has started because they have the same characteristics.
The front screens run the service
The confidence monitors run the service
The chapel screen is running the stream. ??

Running a Windows Update will change settings and cause the system to become non working. This requires reseting of all or most devices.

Windows 10 will allow auto update to be turned off.
Windows 11 will not allow auto update to be turned off.
Windows 11 Pro will allow auto update to be turned off.

Current cameras are setup as SDI interface which is not susceptible to changes because it requires a dedicated camera cable.
A new or temporary camera can be setup to use an NDI interface
(the system has equipment to support NDI) which is susceptible to setup changes because it uses the network for its wiring. The Decimator Is installed in the system? And supports NDI. It is possible if sometime in the future. We wanted to view an event in the fellowship hall on the sanctuary screens we could. This would be done by sending the output from Fellowship Hall through an adapter across the Network wiring, Then from there, through another adapter into the Sanctuary NDI input.

FYI - Digital mixing consoles take 30 or mor seconds to boot up as compared to analog mixers that turn on instantly.

  3. 3

    Equipment Startup

Mac Mini - Power button is on the rear case corner.

Furman Sequencer - Start button on the left front.

Center Eiki projector - Blue power button is on rear left.

Left and right projectors, confidence and chapel monitors are turned on using the remote which is stored stage right in the choir loft.
  4. 4

    House amplifier start up

This is controled by the Furman Sequencer and that start button is in the balcony on the A/V Desk
  5. 5

    Stage Monitors

To restart the Stage Box because it has lost the connection to the Mixer, unplug the cord in the floor cubby behind the piano that is marked "Switched".
  6. 6

    Reboot the system

Unplug the two large black cords in the north wall orange double duplex to reset part of the Marshal devices.

Unplug the trip lite surge suppressor located under the audio mixer.

    Turn on the apple computer
Turn on the center projector using the on board power switch
Press 3 and take on both marshal switchers.

Both confidence monitors input is HDMI 3

A quick reset for the video splitter is to unplug it for 20 seconds

FSR sequencer is controliing the audio system only.

MDHX desimator should be in line, why it - automatic sets EDID  Forces EDID to match up with the Apple and the video splitter.
It also makes a signal match for the apple which is 60 and a black magic which is 59.

Focusrite is audio only from board to computer or from the computer to the board, as desired.

desktop is for sending announcements to atrium during the week

Constellation will work better than the current computer is doing

  7. 7

    Sanctuary A/V Master Surge Protection

    1. The Square D “Surgelogic” device is a multi channel surge protector. This was likely installed by Osterwisch with the panel back when the new sound system video desk were installed about 15 years ago or so. It is a three channel unit for use on a three phase panel however this panel is only a two phase distribution so one of the phases is not being used. There are condition LEDs on it and both channels indicate they are functioning. This is very suitable for lightening and over-voltage surges but is it not a power conditioner.
    2. This system was to be an isolated ground system by spec. I did not check to see if it was wired that way but the receptacles in the balcony are orange and that indicated an isolated ground system.
    3. One of the breakers is marked “Routers”. I did not attempt to trace it out all the way but it does not terminate near the routers in that room. The routers in that room are connected to a receptacle that is marked “Organ Only”. At some point it might be wise to see where that circuit terminates at and what routers are on it. Clearly the small routers on the wall there are not part of your managed network. Maybe they don’t need to be but if there is ever a move to create a true managed network their functionality should be looked at.
    4. I will incorporate this into the facility drawing since it is really part of the A/V technical system in the building.
    5. The Surgelogic unit has the capability of communicating to something if one of the circuits were ever to be compromised. There are a number of ways to do this as it uses contact closure to make notification. A system could be configured where a light in the balcony would light if one of the surge circuits were to be compromised. It could also be configured to send notification to an email box etc. There are a significant number of circuits/options that could be developed if this were to be desired.

    Sanctuary Video Cameras

To all, a wire was installed today providing SDI signal flow between camera and switcher. System was tested and is operative. The NDI to SDI converter was left in the balcony. It could be very valuable in the future if you wanted to put a temporary camera on the floor for an event. Of course the camera would have to NDI enabled.

Sending Sanctuary Audio and Video to Fellowship Hall

This is done so the inputs on all 5 TVs don't have to be changed for each service.

    Send Sanctuary Audio:
    Sound Mixer PW: password
To direct audio out to the atrium go to fader page C (Button on lower right) and turn on or off fader number nine “Remote TV”
Put the house fader at around 25 if you’re starting to play but if you are turning it off put the house fader at infinity.

Send Sanctuary Video: (Ask for instructions)

The EVO system in Fellowship Hall or the Sanctuary must be changed to reflect the input change from the Sanctuary to the F.H. This needs to happen at the beginning of the first service and then again back to F.H before the second service.

Loads Profile 1 (or 2) using EVO upper right Load button Takes a few seconds. Profile 1 is for the 9:00am service and Profile 2 is for the 10:30 service. Leave Profile 2 on for the weekly announcements to run in the Atrium, etc.
