Sanctuary, Replace burned out or "Dim" bulbs
CAUTION: Bulbs can be extremely HOT. Bulbs will shatter and make a big mess if dropped! Move slow and methodically with a bulb in hand or in the pole changer. Do not change bulbs if any people are sitting in the area!

1Bulb StorageLocated in the North Narthex closet on stair landing, left of ladies room door.

2Gather equipmentUsually, Extension bulb changing pole, light bulb in box.

3Transcept two high fixturesBoth the north and the south transcept have one fixture each that require a step ladder to reach with the pole. There is a wood 5 foot step ladder in the bell room which can be used but do not go above the third step for safety and balance. Move the appropriate number of seats out of the way and locate the ladder in the exact position under the fixture so when you climb the ladder you are centered on the bulb. If you are not tall enough to reach it from the third step please use a 6 foot step ladder from the main street mechanical room.

4Power Down Dimmer(s)The dimmers are in pairs of two lights controlled by one dimmer. The top of the
Count, including the Balcony, the rows or pairs of lights with the balcony being #1. As example, if Row 2 has one light out, count down the dimmer panel (Located in the southwest corner of the south aisle.) Turn off the light's dimmer and then pull out the disconnect on the dimmer located at the bottom of the toggle. Use a fingernail to pull out perpendicular to the dimmer. This removes all electric from the bulb. -
5Remove bulbExtend the telescopic bulb changer. Make sure the spring and rubber grippers are situated to best fit the bulb. Gently push up on the bulb and rotate counterclockwise to remove the bulb. Put the bulb in the box and dispose of in the dumpster or large waste can in the kitchen.

6Install new bulbPut the bulb in the changer, observe the alignment of the bulb as you rotate the changer in your hand. Adjust the bulb so it rotates evenly. Raise the changer to the light fixture and install the bulb by slowly rotating clockwise. when the changer squeaks on the bulb, it is tight. Lower the changer and collapse the handle.

7Turn on the DimmerPush the dimmer disconnect back in and raise the brightness of the bulb to full on.

8Return tool to the closet and lock the closet.Place the burned-out bulb in the dumpster or large kitchen garbage can.
