Dishwasher Check Valve Servicing

  1. 1

    Operating Instructions

Turn on the unit by pressing the round black button on the controller located to the right hand side of the Dishwasher.

Turn on the booster located on the left hand side of the Dishwasher.

The two toggle switches should be in the "Auto" and "Off" positions. (Top switch down bottom switch in the middle) The manual position allows the dishwasher to run the rinse if switched to rinse or to Manual

The temperature must rise to  approximately 180º before it will run.

The door must be down all the way for it to run and will stop if the door is lifted a small amount. Wait for the water to drain down before opening the door all the way.

It is normal for a small amount of water to escape the upper corner of the cabinet occasionally during operation.

If you are going to clean light weight objects, place a second basket tray on top of the first tray to prevent blasting out of the tray. Interlock it in normal upright position.

Be sure to check the sump for escaped utensils, especially plastic ones or they will melt on the heating element and cause a smelly problem.

Be sure to turn off both the dishwasher and the booster when you are finished. Drain the sump by lifting the drain lever and and clean the sump basket. Leave the doors up to allow for proper drying of the equipment.

    Service by Hobart

Hobart is the manufacturer and they offer service. CHPC has a cash account with Greg Fischer's Master Card as payment. Tax exempt status has been applied for in 11/2022. Call 1-888-4 -hobart for service call. Minimum charge is about $225.00 in 11/22. They will not service the soap and rinse equipment, only the dishwasher itself. Both technicians that came in in 11/22 commented that the unit was in excellent condition.

    Simple trouble shooting

    Sump:
Drain it by lifting the drain lever located inside, rear of the left door. Pull up to drain and push down to close.

Remove the strainer basket to clean after each session.

Remove the cover strainers to access the drain tube. This plastic device has an "O" ring on the bottom of it which needs to be clean. Wipe it clean and check the outlet seat as well. If any dirt is on the O ring the sump will not fill. Also, since the tube is plastic and if it is cracked it will leak and prevent the sump from filling and cause an excessive amount of rinse and detergent to be used. Last replaced 11/2022. Required a second trip to clean the ring a second time to get it to fill.

    Soap and Rinse Aid

This device should be serviced only by the equipment provider. Hobart will not service it. Call 513-266-0439, Mark Corns, Stigler Supply Warewash & Laundry Specialist. Mark knows the Knight controller and how it operates. If it requires major repairs it will have to be replaced with a current modern device.

The lines with the blue color are the rinse agent and will run during the fill and rinse stages. Not a lot of waste happens with the small amount of product flowing through the lines.

    Lime & DeScaler Cleaning

Pour one quart of the Lime and DeScaler in the full dishwasher sump. Use rubber gloves, eye protection and caution as this is an acid cleaner and will cause severe burns on skin or in eyes. Run the dishwasher through two or three cycles, then dump the sump and let it fill once to rinse out the dishwasher. Do this cleaning cycle monthly or as needed. You can make a solution of the cleaner per instructions or use a cleaning brush dipping from the sump and on to the white deposits on the cabinet and drain boards.
