ScopeThis is a two year appointment
Time commitment of approximately 0.5 PA per week
Overall Purpose of the JobTo lead and expand the BSG Mentoring Programme 

KEY OBJECTIVES 

  • The BSG Mentoring Lead is a member of the Education Committee and provides leadership for the successful development and implementation of the BSG Mentoring Programme and related membership support programmes.
 MAIN DUTIES, ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
  • To further develop the current BSG Mentorship Programme, including benchmarking against other, similar programmes 
  • To work with the BSG Mentoring Project Manager and BSG office to ensure appropriate promotion and uptake of the programme
  • To provide timely evaluation reports to the Education Committee and to BSG Council regarding the Mentorship and related programmes
  • To run a Mentoring session at the BSG Annual Conference
  • Oversee and maintain, with the BSG office a list of previous mentors and mentees, using the online mentoring platform.
  • To develop the web based resources for advice and guidance in conjunction with the BSG web editor.
  • To be a full member of the Education Committee.

Clinical/Service Achievements/experience
 
Consultant Gastroenterologist,  Nurse or similar or Trainee - must have BSG membership
Significant professional experience & a demonstrable commitment to gastroenterology / hepatology
Evidence of active participation or association with BSG
Recent experience in clinical service delivery
Affiliation with relevant Royal College or regulatory body
 
Established relationshipsAn understanding of BSG Committees and Structures
 
Active in region / local health economy
Personal Qualities 
 
Evidence of mentoring or coaching experience
Evidence of Team working & relevant communication and organisational skills
Time, resilience & commitment to undertake the roles
Commitment to BSG values including fairness, equality and diversity
Formal mentoring or coaching qualifications
