Job Description: Vice President of Operations (VPO)
Job Overview:
The Vice President of Operations (VPO) is a versatile role tasked with overseeing and supporting one or more regions, whether they are already operational or under development. This includes managing infrastructure, fleet, and capital transactions, guiding strategic sales, and ensuring effective financial management. The VPO also plays a critical role in human resources, safety compliance, service delivery, quality control, and the training and development of director-level staff. Through comprehensive oversight and strategic leadership, the VPO drives operational excellence and fosters the growth and success of the regions under their purview.
Key Responsibilities:
Culture:
Regional Oversight and Development:
- Manage and support multiple operational regions by working with and supporting the responsible Director of Operations and their team of leaders, ensuring efficient service delivery and adherence to company standards.
- Oversee the development of new regions, including infrastructure setup, staffing, and operational launch.
- Work closely with the Director of the Home Office to acquire and outfit new Service Center facilities, bringing them in line with ECF standards.
Operational Excellence:
- Drive OMNIA & CAMPO adoption and utilization.
- Develop and implement operational strategies to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service quality.
- Monitor and analyze operational performance metrics to drive continuous improvement.
Infrastructure and Asset Management:
- Oversee the management of company infrastructure, including facilities and fleet, ensuring optimal utilization and maintenance.
- Ensure the operations leaders follow proper company protocols and policies related to infrastructure and fleet.
- Plan and manage capital transactions and investments to support operational needs and growth by identifying and reporting them to your leader.
Strategic Sales and Business Development:
- Collaborate with the Director of Business Development to identify and secure new business opportunities within existing regions.
- Help the Director of Operations maximize the entire operations management and account executive staff to grow market density within a region's service area.
- Maintain strong client relationships with strategic clients and ensure high customer satisfaction.
- Serve as a retention safety net and rapidly intervene if a customer is dissatisfied with our services, administration, or value proposition and the matter cannot be readily resolved by the DOO in charge.
Financial Oversight:
- Develop and manage operational budgets, ensuring financial targets are met.
- Provide financial analysis and reporting to support strategic decision-making.
- Work with each DOO to develop Live Budgets according to company guidelines.
- Provide support and direction to DOO roles to ensure they are driving the approved annual budget for each of their region's Service Centers.
- Monitor and ensure all financial procedures and policies are followed, especially AR management and purchasing policies.
Human Resources and Staff Development:
- Support recruitment, development, and retention of a high-performing team.
- Implement training and development programs for director-level staff and other key personnel.
Safety and Compliance:
Quality Control and Service Delivery:
- Implement quality assurance programs to ensure consistent service delivery.
- Address operational issues and client concerns promptly and effectively.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Horticulture, Landscape Architecture, or a related field; MBA preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in operations management, preferably in the landscaping, construction, or related industry, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Proven ability to manage multi-regional operations and drive operational improvements.
- Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting and financial analysis.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of industry standards, safety regulations, and best practices.
- Exceptional skills in strategic thinking, problem-solving, leadership, and interpersonal communication.
- Proven ability to cultivate a collaborative and innovative working environment.
- Comprehensive experience in implementing EOS in a similar setting.
Working Conditions:
- Primarily office-based with frequent travel to regional sites and client locations.
- Extended hours may be required during peak seasons or project deadlines.
