 Overall Purpose of the JobTo become Deputy Lead for a year and then Lead, co- ordinate and promote the International activities of the BSG on behalf of the BSG Executive as Chair of the International Committee 
 

KEY OBJECTIVES

  • The successful applicant will become the Deputy Chair of the BSG International Committee. In this role they will be expected to support the work of the Chair and lead on delegated work streams as part of the International Committee. This role will continue until the Chair stands down from their role and the Deputy takes over the role of the Chair, and becomes the BSG International Chair and in this capacity part of the BSG Executive Team
  • The subsequent tenure of the BSG International Chair (and Chair of the International Committee) will be for 2 years (during this time a new Deputy Chair will be appointed, who will succeed as the next Chair in turn)
  • The Deputy Chair will support the Chair and deputise on their behalf when required
 

MAIN DUTIES, ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To lead the development and execution of the BSG International Strategy
  • To direct and chair the International Committee with the support of the Committee Manager and in line with the terms of reference
  • To be an active member of the BSG Executive and lead the overall strategic direction relating to International activities
  • Co-ordinate and facilitate an integrated approach to international activities and initiatives with other BSG Committees and the membership
  • Establish, with the agreement of the President and Executive, joint working arrangements with other Societies/groups to further the strategic aims of the international strategy
  • Oversee the BSG international grants programme, leading the evaluation process ensuring best value for members funds
  • Lead, with the support of the International Committee, the organisations of the International symposium of the Annual BSG meeting or other relevant symposia, events or meetings
  • Contribute actively to information on International activities via the BSG newsletters and website (in conjunction with the Communications Lead) and directly with other BSG members/Committees/groups undertaking international activities in the specialty
  • The Deputy Chair will share and support the above work in their first year(s) until such time as they become Chair of the Committee

Higher level qualification e.g. PhD, MD, MSc
Formal leadership role
