How to import terminology from an Excel table into a TB

1
Prepare an Excel file properly
First, prepare an Excel file. The simplest way is to enter the language into the first line of the column (e.g. SL, EN, DE ...) with the first column being the source language and the remaining columns containing one language each. Enter the terms without capital letters (of course if the grammar allows for it) and in the singular nominative clause. Before importing the file, make sure to close it. In the attachment hereto, also find a sample file that you can use and suitably adapt.
In memoQ, open the TB menu. You can find it in the project dashboard on the left side: If you are currently not in a project, another option is the Resource Console: Make sure our server is selected (see the following steps):
3
Open the remote/server term bases and check if the TB for the client already exists
In the upper right corner, first mark that you need access to remote/server term bases since memoQ defaults to local resources under My Computer. For that purpose, click the small arrow to the right to open a drop-down list and select our server (memoq.leemeta.com). Confirm the selection with a tick.
When the term bases appear below, search for the relevant TB –client and language combination. If no term base exists yet, you need to create it. Otherwise just add it to the project (tick the window next to the name).
Click Import terminology to open the window for the terminology import.
6
Import the terminology
The window for the selection of the Excel file opens. Select the file to be imported into the TB. Configure the parameters: You will see the Fields on the left. Configure the fields that you want to import (you can see the preview below to get a better impression about which field belongs to which Excel column). Entry_ID should be imported as Entry ID.
7
Configure the languages for each column
Configure the languages to be imported. If the columns are named properly (make the first line in each column the language abbreviation, such as SL, EN, etc., and tick the window next to the parameter First row contains field names), memoQ will recognize the language automatically. Otherwise, set the languages manually. Click OK and the terminology is imported.
8
Edit the terminology
Highlight the TB and click Edit. A term base editor opens looking similar to the translation editor.
